Senior Companion Care

Other than chronic illnesses, boredom, isolation, and loneliness are among the issues affecting our seniors the most. This is usually as a result of mobility issues and the loss of their driving capabilities, both of which lead to fewer socialization opportunities.

A companion care service is a form of in-home care with a primary goal to offer emotional support and companionship to older adults and other individuals that may be homebound due to aging, illness, or disabilities.

Our senior companion care service is designed to make life more manageable for our patients, but alleviating loneliness and isolation is the main objective behind this service.

A companion/caregiver makes daily or regular visits, depending on the patient’s desired schedule. During these visits, the companion provides social interaction through a number of tasks and activities, such as the following:

• Taking relaxing walks
• Playing games, including card and board games (mental stimulation)
• Talking and reminiscing
• Offering a listening ear
• Watching movies and listening to music
• Reading
• Looking at old photos
• And more

While our goal is to provide emotional support through companionship, our companion caregivers are also ready and willing to provide some basic help with the following tasks:

• Diet monitoring
• Organizing mail and paying bills
• Assistance in going up and down the stairs
• Help with getting in or out of bed
• Transfer assistance
• Exercise programs
• Escort to appointments, religious services, movies/restaurant
• AM and PM care
• Safety supervision
• Medication reminders
• Running errands
• Coupon clipping & grocery shopping
• Overseeing home deliveries/repairs

Getting Started

Our services begin with the patient or family contacting us through a phone call or an email. Our contact details have been provided at the end of this page. But, you may also use our online contact form to leave us a message.

After this initial contact, our care coordinator sets up an in-home visit, where a registered nurse conducts a thorough assessment of the patient’s needs. This initial home visit is also an avenue for us to interact with the patient and the family as a whole and answer any questions they may have concerning the services and our agency.
